Soil and water in an international context will be addressed as a central theme in the World Soil and Water Show at this years AGRITECHINCA. Innovative tillage and water use strategies at a range of locations worldwide will be presented by way of example. The Show will be accommodated in a Pavilion in Hall 11 on a floor space of 1,000 sq m. Visitors will be able to gather information about leading tillage and irrigation concepts and solutions with just a short time input. The World Soil and Water Show advances the proven concept of the World Soil and Tillage Show that presented innovative tillage systems worldwide at AGRITECHNICA 2007.
The Show will illustrate how water availability can be developed for agriculture at various sites and what measures farmers can use to secure water supply at their locations. The tillage concepts shown point up ways of conserving water and improving water availability in the soil. Irrigation concepts paint a picture of the future-oriented application of irrigation systems.
Problem areas at different locations will be addressed C for example the increasingly uneven distribution of precipitation and the use of efficient irrigation systems. The changes in water supply are increasingly presenting arable farmers with the task of making the irregularly distributed precipitation available for growth phases through tillage, thus enhancing water efficiency. In irrigation, the focus will be on sufficient and efficient water supply for soils. Farmers must identify and implement the appropriate irrigation systems for their locations.
The leitmotif of the Show starts with the world region and graphic description of local site conditions and leads to a presentation of innovative systems for water supply and tillage. The whole takes place in an optimal mixture of information and entertainment (infotainment), furnishing expert visitors with completely new insights into the central themes of soil and water.
The World Soil and Water Show will provide outstanding ideas, convincing concepts and site-specific solutions for tillage and irrigation. Innovative machinery and equipment, efficient management systems, examples of best practices and personal experiences of leading practical farmers will be presented. Visitors will also be able to enter into discussions with experts. In this internationally unique show innovative machinery and equipment from globally leading manufacturers will thus be brought together with the production-specific know-how of practical farmers, advisory institutions and research facilities.
Soil and tillage regularly rank very high in visitor interest at AGRITECHINCA. Water and water use are core future themes for agriculture. Soil and water resources cannot be multiplied and they assume a key position in agricultural production. That is why conservation and efficient handling of these resources is a central goal of users. Discussion on the use of soil and water in agriculture raises the awareness of practical farmers and leads to strong interest in efficient solutions.
Agricultural machinery and equipment manufacturers will be showing many of their products for tillage and irrigation. Advisory organisations and research institutions offer efficient processes and concepts, making it possible to devise specific solutions for every site through an intelligent combination of tools. At the World Soil and Water Show these concepts will be presented on a model basis for locations in Central Europe, Eastern Europe, North America and South America.
The World Soil and Water Show will provide visitors with a wide range of information and motivate them to achieve creative technical and procedural solutions says Achim Schaffner, responsible for the World Soil and Water Show.
One central aspect of the Show is the compact transfer of knowledge in the areas of tillage and irrigation. The Show will be divided into four to five compartments in line with the locations addressed, with a central eye-catcher in each compartment. Problem areas and challenges will be staged and the agricultural machinery industry will present its solutions using exhibits of machine details, process strategies or animated presentations.
Information about the Show and the exhibitors involved will be integrated in AGRITECHNICAs communication strategy via a special brochure. The close spatial and content-specific connections to the tillage and irrigation segments of the exhibition will allow a wealth of information to be gathered, enabling the expert visitors to identify the best available machinery and equipment for their specific location.
The information programme will be supplemented by some 30 technical events in the adjacent Forum. Every day there will be approximately four one-hour information events addressing an international public. German-language events together with forums held in English and Russian will satisfy the information needs of an international public. The agenda includes events on future trends in tillage and irrigation, a comparison of tillage systems, comparisons of production costs, and much more besides.

Agritechnica Special "Workshop Live"
Good service is the basis for commercially sound development of farm machinery repair and maintenance business and indeed for the operation of the agricultural machinery market altogether.
Good service is based on well-trained skilled workers and corresponding modern, efficiently equipped workshops.
In order to counteract the current shortage of skilled workers and actively promote careers in this branch, the skilled occupation Mechanic for agricultural and construction machinery will be featured once again at Agritechnica 2009 in a special show entitled Workshop Live.
Practical demonstrations will help to show the entire career concept of this trade:
- Training to acquire qualification as a journeyman (after completing an apprenticeship)
- Training as a service technician
- Training as a master craftsman
Workshop Live comprises three segments:
- Practical workshop activities C demonstrated live with an expert commentary
- Advisory services provided by experts, in individual discussions or for instance ion the form of discussion panels within the action area
- Information through posters, brochures, films/CDs etc.
The workshop demonstrations will be held on the full hour on each day of the exhibition and will last for about 20 minutes.
Workshop Live addresses above all:
- Potential apprentices, generally secondary school leavers
- Parents, seeking training that will result in qualifications for their children
- Agricultural machinery/construction plant mechanics seeking to obtain further qualifications
- Trainers and instructors
- Agricultural machinery dealers as providers or operators of workshops
Foreign dealers and trainers, including their institutions

Used Machinery Trade Information Center
The Used Machinery Trade Information Center ,where 49 companies showed what they have and what they do at the last Agritechnica, aims to facilitate international contacts for practical sales promotion.
A good 51,000 of the altogether 340,756 expert visitors at the last Agritechnica were interested in used machinery.
As at the Dealer Center/International Center, participants can decide on a full-package stand or an individual stand. Exhibitors only present their services here C no used machinery is shown.
Providers from the following areas are eligible for stand space at the Center:
- Retailers or dealer communities
- Manufacturers
- Used machinery forums
- Service providers: financing, forwarders, customs agents, valuation, reconditioners of used machinery, engine oil analysts, insurers, auctioneers
Benefits for you:
- A platform for presenting yourself and your service in the professional setting of the worlds most important agricultural machinery exhibition
- Extensive pre-exhibition communication by DLG in the trade press and targeted advertising campaigns, especially abroad C above all in Eastern Europe C enhance the profile of this segment and mobilise above all international demand
- You can offer your customers a complete package of services covering all aspects of your range of used agricultural machinery
- If required, interpreters for the main international languages are available to you via the International Visitors Lounge at Agritechnica
